Grayson Cox: Survey 2004–2026 looks back across twenty-two years of my practice through new works made by thirteen artists whose friendships, conversations, and collaborations have shaped my work during periods of significant change.
For the exhibition, each artist was invited to create a “cover” of one of my artworks from the past twenty-two years. Like musicians covering a song, they began with an existing work and transformed it into something entirely their own. None of my original works were exhibited. Instead, the survey was constructed entirely through the work of others—a history of my practice told through relationships, exchanges, and the ways ideas move between people over time.
Participating artists were Angela Conant, Blake Marques Carrington, Brad Ewing, David Kennedy Cutler, Eric Ramos Guerrero, Jessica Segall, Jesse Weiss, Jomar Statkun, Lara Saget, Lauren Pakradooni, Mark Rice, Nadja Frank, and Zefrey Throwell.
Organized by Nadja Frank, Jomar Statkun, and Grayson Cox.
